Bridge Documentation

This is one of a number of riveted bridges found along this major highway. This stretch of highway is today a divided highway and the bridges found on it tell the story of the highway. The story is that in the mid-20th Century when the riveted bridges were built, this was a two lane highway. Later, the highway was turned into a divided highway and companion bridges were built at the crossings to form one-way couplets. Here, the companion bridge is a welded and bolted through arch bridge.

This bridge is a through truss that follows a standard design used by the British Columbia Department of Public Works. The portal and sway bracing on this bridge has been altered to increase the clearance for trucks.

Lengths given for this bridge are estimates.
