This bridge is an impressive structure with a single simply-spanning truss span of 262 feet, which is among the longer spans to be found in Maine. This bridge displays the design details of a truss bridge designed by the state. One of the distinctive details of a state-designed truss bridge in Maine is the horizontal member that runs through the middle of the truss web. Overall, the bridge retains good historic integrity with no noteoworthy alterations, with one exception. The bottom portions of the sway and portal bracing appear to have been shortened for the purpose of increasing the vertical clearance on the bridge. This alteration evidences itself in the empty rivet holes below the sway bracing on the vertical members, and also in the use of bolts for the bottom portions of the sway and portal bracing. While a noteworthy alterations, these changes do not significantly detract from the overall appearance and design of the bridge.
