This bridge is one of Wayne County's unusual cantilever concrete arch bridges. Several such examples remain in Wayne County, but the structure type is exceedingly rare elsewhere in the United States. Unlike a true arch bridge, Wayne County's cantilevered arch spans are actually composed of two structurally independent arch halves that cantilever out from the abutments. In Wayne County, most of these bridges have cantilever arms that hold a suspended concrete slab span in the center of the bridge. This bridge displays this three-part configuration. There are three bridges of this type and of similar dimensions on this stretch of Hines Drive, however of the three this is the only one that retains any original railings. The original railings are only present on the southwest side of the bridge, where a sidewalk is present.
