View Archived National Bridge Inventory Report - Has Additional Details and Evaluation

The construction date given by the inventories for this bridge is 1910. As hard as it may be to believe today, Reed Road was a part of a trunk line route, that would later be succeeded by nearby Federal Road, and which later then in turn gave up its trunk line status to US-131 expressway. However, as a trunk line bridge, that date seems too early. Perhaps the bridge was built in 1916, the date given for the 190th Avenue Bridge, which in Mecosta County would have been on this same trunk line route. Either way, this bridge is a small, but very old example of a through girder. The structure is in good shape, and retains excellent historic integrity.
