This bridge is an unaltered example of a pre-stressed concrete bridge in Michigan that was built in one of the last years to see Michigan's ornamental type R4 railings on it. While the box beam superstructure, like all examples of its type, plain and ugly, the bridge is made interesting by using Michigan's attractive type R4 railing. This bridge type has become one of the most common types of bridge to be built in the 21st Century world, however modern examples lack any sort of aesthetics or ornamentation like that seen in the railings of this bridge. This particular bridge is also one of the only bridges with any heritage or aesthetic value in the entirety of Lake County.
