This bridge is primarily of wood construction, with wooden bents and wooden stringer spans. The main span over the road however is a steel stringer. This bridge is an example of a type that was commonly used by railroads to cross water and changes in elevation, but does not often appear as a grade separation. Such bridges would often be all wood, or in some cases the substructure would be wood and the superstructure would be steel stringers.
