Vew Historic Bridge Recordation For This Bridge

At the time of documentation, this bridge was one of only three truss bridges in Miller County. Soon there will be only one truss bridge, and this beautiful standard plan truss bridge will not be one of them.

This bridge is a highly attractive bridge, whose high level of aesthetic value comes from its three span configuration, with a central through truss span, and one pony truss approach span at each end of the bridge, which creates a nicely shaped and symmetrical overall bridge appearance. The bridge is also an excellent representative example of a standard plan truss bridge in Missouri.

Despite this bridge's beauty and history, MoDOT demolished this historic bridge. The only thing wrong with the bridge was that there was section loss on portions of the bottom chord due to a lack of proper, responsible bridge maintenance. A more fiscally responsible and preservation favoring solution would be to repair or replace the bottom chord of the bridge. The rest of the truss was in good condition.
