Bridge Documentation

View Archived National Bridge Inventory Report - Has Additional Details and Evaluation

This bridge, with a 1944 construction date, is a relatively late example of a riveted through truss bridge. The bridge displays unusual design of built-up beams which include battens on both sides of the beam, instead of the usual cover plate on top. The bridge remains today in good condition structurally, and historic integrity appears to be good as well, although railings have been replaced with ugly Armco guardrail.

Information and Findings From Ohio's Historic Bridge Inventory

Setting/Context

The bridge carries a 2 lane road over a stream in a sparsely developed, rural setting.

Physical Description

The 1 span, 132'-long, rivet-connected Warren thru truss bridge is composed of built-up and rolled section members. It has beam guide rails, a wood deck supported by rolled stringers and floorbeams, and is concrete abutments.

Integrity

Rehabilitated in 1992 with deck replacement.

Summary of Significance

The 1944 Warren thru truss is a late example of its type/design with no distinctive features or details. There are earlier and more complete examples in the state. The prior not eligible recommendation remains appropriate.
