This bridge is a beautiful example of an uncommon truss type, the pin-connected Parker truss. It retains good historic integrity. Plaques note the builder, Canton Bridge Company. The decorative portal bracing knees and the style of the commissioner's plaque on the portal bracing are designed to standards of the Canton Bridge Company. Another plaque mentions R. K. Hughes as engineer. It is not known if he might have been associated with the Canton Bridge Company as an agent at some point (some sources describe him as a contracting engineer), but he was in a number of other period sources listed as County Engineer for Tulsa County, so the plaque may simply be referring to him in that capacity.
