Bridge Documentation

This bridge is actually two bridges separated by a short section earth-supported elevated railway. One bridge is an attractive stone arch crossing Milltown Road. The other is a deck plate girder bridge crossing Salmon River, and supported by stone piers and abutments. Canadian National has been widening this railway. Some bridges are widened by adding structures while other bridges on this section of railway, while others are likely at risk for demolition. During the HistoricBridges.org field visit to these bridges, the stone arch had already been altered by having a concrete arch added to the northern side to accommodate this widening. Work appeared to have been started to add a bridge parallel to the deck plate girder as well.
