Bridge Documentation

This is one of two impressive and uncommon pin-connected railroad deck truss bridges in this area. One of the truss spans is a shorter rivet-connected Warren deck truss span, and it may be newer than the pin-connected truss spans. A 1917 construction date was given for this bridge, in fact this date seems more appropriate for when the bridge might have been altered, perhaps with the installation of the rivet-connected Warren deck truss span. The pin-connected design is more like that of an 1890s or early 1900s bridge. The other nearby bridge is of similar design and dates to ca. 1903, and perhaps this bridge is of similar vintage.
