This bridge, with its distinctive double-Warren deck truss span is an example of a truss type that the Chicago NorthWestern Railroad used for a number of its bridges. The company had a preference to multiple-intersection varieties of Warren trusses for its bridges, truss types that are in general uncommon elsewhere. This bridge is on a railroad line that is today a rail-trail that can be used by snowmobiles and ORVs. As such, this bridge is available for the public to enjoy. Apparently part of the bridge construction, the river has substantial stone retaining walls near this bridge.
