Historic Bridges of Texas

Mostly concentrated in the regions along and near the I-35 corridor, Texas has a large and impressive collection of historic bridges, with a number of structures that are highly significant. Locally owned historic bridges are often bypassed and abandoned, which is both a blessing and a curse, since this practice has saved many bridges from pointless demolition, but at the same time has eventually resulted in the collapse of some bridges. In addition, Texas is noted for a good commitment to preservation of historic bridges on state-owned highways.
