Hickory Bridge

Photo Gallery Browser

Due to the large number number of photos available for this spectacular bridge, I have sorted them into appropriate categories. This should allow you to find what you are looking for more quickly, and also decrease page load times for modem users. Click on a thumbnail or gallery name below to visit that particular gallery.

2004 Rainy Visit Full / Wallpaper Sized Photo Gallery For greater visual immersion and full detail, or for use as a desktop background, this is a collection of my best Hickory Bridge photos from the rainy day visit, available in the original digital camera size. While the rain degraded the photo quality, I did get some cool cloud effects against the valley, and plus the plaque is still on the bridge, and there is no construction equipment.
2006 Sunny Visit Original / Full Size Photo Gallery For greater visual immersion and full detail, or for use as a desktop background, this is a collection of my best Hickory Bridge photos from the sunny day visit, available in the original digital camera size. The sun allowed for some nicer photos (unless I was facing into it) although the bridge plaque is gone, and construction equipment mars the tranquility. Numerous trees had been cut down to, making it a more barren scene.
2004 Rainy Visit Photo Gallery These photos both provide both artistic value, as well as a documentation of the bridge's appearance and design. Most of these are overview photos.
2006 Sunny Visit Structure Overview Photo Gallery These photos both provide both artistic value, as well as a documentation of the bridge's appearance and design. The sun allowed for me to document the bridge effectively, but the construction equipment and cut down trees mar the aesthetic quality of the photos.
2006 Sunny Visit Structure Details Photo Gallery These photos are mainly to document the design, construction, and materials of the bridge. The construction equipment did not really affect this portion of the photographing, and I am happy with the results I got here thanks to the sunny weather.
Demolition Photo Gallery These photos document an atrocity, the removal of one of the finest historic bridges in Pennsylvania.
