Bridge Documentation

This bridge is a metal truss. This is one of two private kingpost truss bridges on this section of Soda Creek and both share the mystery as to how historically significant they are. Both have some parts that look old and other parts that look less old. In the case of this bridge, the end posts and bottom chord on the southern side are built-up beams composed of paired angles riveted together with v-lacing. As such, they clearly are not modern and are old. However, the bottom chord on the north side is composed of a modern rolled beam with punched holes. Also, all connections are welded, suggesting a more modern structure. The vertical member and floorbeam have a more modern look to them. However, the top of the trusses have decorative finials which is a detail normally associated with older bridges. Without further information, this appears to be a bridge that is perhaps not old, but is composed partially of materials salvaged from a demolished historic truss bridge.
