This bridge was built at a period where pin-connected truss bridges were being built less frequently and rivet-connected truss bridges were being built more frequently. This transition took place first with smaller truss bridges, and this is illustrated with this bridge where the pony truss spans have riveted connections, while the through truss span is pin-connected. This bridge does not have overall symmetry; the two pony truss spans (one at each end) are not the same length.
