Setting/Context

The bridge carries a 2 lane road and sidewalks over a stream in the Floraville Historic District.

Physical Description

The 2 span, 85'-long arch bridge is massed concrete (unreinforced). It is finished with metal lattice railings, which are modern but based on the pattern of the original railings.

Integrity

Rehabilitated, 2004.

Summary of Significance

The 1897 concrete arch bridge is a contributing resource in the NR listed Floraville Historic District. In addition, it is individually significant for its technology as one of the earliest concrete arch bridges in Ohio, and one of the few that is confirmed to be massed (unreinforced) concrete. The bridge was eligible in ODOT's prior historic bridge survey. The bridge was rehabilitated in 2004.

Justification

The bridge type is not uncommon. It also contributes to a historic district. The bridge has moderate significance.
