This bridge at first glance looks like a concrete bridge. However it is a steel plate girder that is encased in concrete. The encasement appears to be an original detail. Spalling has exposed portions of the bottom chord of the girder, revealing this bridge's secret. Also, the panels in the concrete are an echo of the spaces between the ribs on the metal girder.
