This abandoned bridge has the distinctive details indicating it is an extremely early surviving example of a pin-connected Pratt truss built by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company. A key detail includes decorative cast iron star caps on the fishbelly floorbeams, which tend to show up on 1870s Wrought Iron Bridge Company bridges. Thus, it is assumed this bridge may date to the 1870s making it one of the oldest bridges in Allegheny County's massive collection of historic bridges. The bridge also has the unique cast iron connection details at the top chord and end post connections used by the company. Rolled "T" iron on the verticals is another typical detail of the company. Although long abandoned the trusses retain good structural condition due to the nature of cast and wrought iron used in the bridge. The bridge has been abandoned so long the road it once served is not even discernable approaching the bridge. However a crude footpath of sorts still leads to the bridge.
