This is an unusual, very lightweight riveted pony truss swing bridge that has been abandoned. The bridge today leads to an island, but this is because in the 1960s a 100 feet wide and 13 feet deep channel was dug to ease navigation, avoiding the many bends in the bayou's natural channel. This channeling created the islands and oxbows that now exist and this ended the usefulness of the bridge as a swing bridge for boats, which now pass east of the new island.
Lengths given are extremely rough guesses.
HistoricBridges.org named this bridge the Cormier Road Bridge as the old road leads to a road of this name, but essentially the bridge is an old alignment of what is now served by Orangefield Road.
