Bridge Documentation

This is a rare example of a historic timber pony truss highway bridge and is significant as a product of the Civilian Conservation Corps. During the Depression, there was a return to older, simpler construction that Civilian Conservation Corps workers could build easily, such as timber as seen here. Timber was also seen to harmonize with the character of the park setting. This bridge is owned by the National Park Service.
