True to WisDOT's standard approach to historic bridge preservation, this beautiful arch bridge, which is a landmark gateway into the historic downtown, is now targeted for demolition and replacement! More information is here.
As a historic bridge that is a gateway into a historic downtown, this bridge could and should be rehabilitated.
An unusual feature of this bridge is the single riveted steel beam approach span.

Despite a somewhat similar appearance, these girders do not match the approach
span of the 1931 bridge. Note pipe railings. The bridge was built by the famous
King Bridge Company of Cleveland, Ohio
