This large and very old stone arch bridge is noted for its curved design and for leading directly into an equally impressive tunnel. The stone arch bridge dates to 1857. The present tunnel is newer, and dates to 1904, replacing an earlier tunnel. The bridge was designed by Charles Ellet who also designed Wheeling's famous suspension bridge. .
