View Historic Bridge Inventory Sheet For This Bridge

The bridge includes a lift span, and at either end of a lift span is a through truss approach spans. Additional approach spans are steel deck plate girder and steel stringer spans. This bridge was clearly designed with aesthetics in mind. Although structurally, the three truss spans are individual simple spans, they have been designed visually to give the appearance of a single unit with a top chord displaying a continuous arch-like design and vertical end posts at the towers. The approach plate girder spans have an arched shape as well. The towers have a streamlined appearance to them as well and are not as bulky looking as on a traditional vertical lift bridge of this size.

The bridge was undergoing rehabilitation when photographed by HistoricBridges.org. However, the bridge remained accessible, so extensive detail photos are available.
