This railroad bridge is a typical example of how railroad companies dealt with uneven terrain in mountainous regions, which was by constructing high level bridges. These bridges often featured deck plate girder spans that were supported by steel bents, sometimes called "towers". The bridges as a whole were therefore sometimes called tower and girder bridges. The Bellview Valley Railroad Bridge is an excellent example of this design. Bill Trbovich, a former employee of Algoma Central Railway provided the following details about the bridge. The bridge is located at mile 18.9, north of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario Canada. It was built to replace a wooden trestle at the same location in 1915. It measures 810 feet long and stands 95 feet above Highway 556 leading to Searchmount.
