Massachusetts is a state that has some incredible historic bridges. Many nationally significant bridges as well as bridges of highly unusual design can be found in this state including a retractile bridge, Post truss bridges, a Parker patent bowstring truss, lenticular truss bridges, and some of the earliest examples in the country of riveted connection truss bridges. Preservation is hit or miss in this state, with some good success stories balanced out by some very disappointing demolition projects as well. HistoricBridges.org offers modest coverage of Massachusetts, with a focus on high significance bridges.
