Overview
The repairs to the damaged areas are very professional. The verticals, overhead sway bracing, guardrails, have been recreated and painted. This was not a patch job but a very thorough recreation of the original parts. Makes me even sadder that it is going to be blown to pieces and cut up in a years time.

View of East End Span
The east Warren span is different than the west Pratt span. The bridge members are a much lighter build. I noticed some reinforcement I-beam girders have been welded across the top of the trusses since my last visit. Can't help but wonder if this span is a reuse from the previous bridge.

Relic
As many times as I have visited and photographed the current Arkadelphia Bridge I have never thought to look for remnants of the old bridge...until today. Here is the stub of one of the west bank piers from the original bridge. Depending on the river level the stub is probably submerged part of the time.

West Bank Lally Column
Another of the west bank Lally Columns or piers has come to light. This one is much taller than the other surviving pier pictured above . This one is also partialy buried in the river bank and is only visable from a wash on it's north side.

The wooden deck on this bridge is getting really bad. Add to that the center pony is roughly ten inches lower than the other two spans due to crumbling piers and it makes it a little scary to drive over.

I ran into a Clark Co. road worker at the bridge today. He said the county intends to leave the bridge as is because there was no money for removal in the budget. He did say the county would be happy to sell it to anyone who would foot the re-location fee.
