Shortly after construction

The bridge was built as a wooden trestle. Water is still flowing in the Alamo River from the Colorado and filling the Salton Sea. The river only predates the bridge by a few years.

Central span

The central span is easy to overlook since it blends in with the wooden beams. Note the two supports in the center - there is a couple of inches between the supports and the bridge, so they were probably "temporary" but never removed.
