Status: Replaced by a new bridge
The bridge was replaced in August 2018. Because the bridge and the roadway are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, mitigation in accordance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act was undertaken by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). This mitigation includes documentary photography of the original bridge, context sensitive design on the replacement bridge, and a plaque commemorating the Bankhead Highway on the replacement bridge.
