The Evansville-Newton Turn was northbound on February 17th, 1918 when it tried to cross the Wabash River and found out the hard way that the swing bridge was not properly locked into position. Two "coal" cars were keeping the locomotive above water. Some of the crew were Anderson (engineer), B. Straker (fireman), M.D. Alsop (brakeman), and C.G. Carlyle (brakeman). Unknown Photographer.

In the pouring rain, a westbound (northbound) Indiana Hi-Rail freight slowly rumbles over the ancient Wabash River Bridge just east of Grayville, Illinois, on April 25, 1993. The train is powered by an eclectic trio of locomotives, led by a former SP&S/Burlington Northern Alco C-425 No. 325 painted in company colors. Trailing is a former Louisville and Nashville Alco C-420 No. 315 and former Santa Fe EMD GP7 No 342.
