Carries Norfolk Southern Railway over Little Wildcat Creek and also formerly Interurban crossed underneath as well.
Design: girder/deck/plate
Design Details: Combination of wood decking, with 4 steel spans as well, with mix of wood piling supports and concrete. Had to be scary for train crews crossing this bridge with it's mix of building materials.
Total Length: 305.0 Feet
Span Length: 70.0 Feet

Overview: Deck plate girder Bridge over Little Wildcat Creek, County 410S and a former Interurban on abandoned Norfolk Southern Railway
History: This unique structure was rare as it not only had a creek it crossed, but an Interurban line as well(Indiana Railroad, Frankfort and Kokomo Traction, others). Was supposedly upgraded sometime in the 1980's for future traffic.

WSRY - Defenbaugh Street Viaduct

Status: Bridge hit by concrete truck and damaged bridge. Center span over roadway was removed. Unknown if span is still intact nearby - July 10, 2011
Recently purchased by Winamac Southern Railway "WSRY"(US Rail Corporation operator) from Central Railroad of Indianapolis "CERA" who had sought to abandon the rail line including this bridge before Surface Transportation Board allowed the sale to new owner. Entire section of this rail line(both WSRY's and NS's property either side of this bridge)is currently out of service and hasn't had rail traffic in nearly 10 years.

History: Single lane underpass with low clearance that was often hit by trucks causing misalignment. City of Kokomo tried for years to get Norfolk Southern(during their ownership) to put at grade crosssing. Central Railroad finally allowed city to remove.

Design: beam/stringer/wood
Design Details: Wooden of some sort, wooden abutments. Only recollection is of timbers poking out of Wildcat in early 80's, since gone. Small ditch located at East approach with Concrete filled metal tubes for Abutments. Maybe 15 feet of fill between ditch and East bridge approach.

Overview: Lost Timber stringer bridge over Wildcat Creek on former Nickel Plate Road Railroad(nee Toledo St. Louis and Western aka Cloverleaf) in Kokomo. Small ditch with it's own steel stringer bridge formerly located at East approach for Creek bridge.
History: Built to connect the Cloverleaf main line to Continental Steel, this bridge was removed sometime in the 1970's. Nickel Plate Road later accessed Continental via the Pennsylvania RR's Kokomo Belt to the East and this bridge was no longer needed.

History: Built on a stub off of the Kokomo Belt's line into Continental Steel, this track went to the former Public Service Indiana(now DUKE) site on Defenbaugh Street. Tracks were pulled a few years ago. Sits on Highland Parks West side.
