Leavenworth Centennial Bridge
TEDD LiGGETT's phOTOGRAPH_oF_tHE_dAY #2903 - the Centennial Bridge linking Leavenworth Kansas and Platte County Missouri opened in 1955, one year after Leavenworth celebrated 100 years as the 1st city of Kansas. Initially a 10¢ Toll was paid to cross the Missouri River. After the bridge was “paid off” the toll booths were removed; one of the few bridges in the U.S.A. to do so. This bridge carries Highway 92 across the Missouri River, connecting the states of Missouri & Kansas. This picture was taken from the Leavenworth riverbank, west side of the Missouri river bank.
