Design Details: "The East Michigan Avenue Bridge is [was] one of only three camelback bridges left on the Michigan Department of Transportation inventory list and is the second largest in the state. The sister bridge to this one was Mosel Avenue Bridge which was taken down in 1990.

"This documentation was undertaken in February 1994 in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement by the Michigan Department of Transportation as a mitigative measure prior to the replacement of the bridge."

Design Details: "This three span bridge, with an overall length of 210 feet, is [was] the second longest surviving concrete camelback bridge designed by the Michigan State Highway Department. All spans are of standard Highway Department designs. The contractor was J.P. Rusche of Grand Rapids, Michigan. This structure was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places on April 1, 1986.

"This documentation was undertaken in June 1989 in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement by the Kalamazoo County Road Commission as a mitigative measure prior to the replacement of the bridge."

Design Details: "One of only two surviving concrete girder camelback bridges in Michigan with sidewalks built as an integral part of the original structure. This was unusual, as most of the bridges were built in rural areas where sidewalks were not needed. It was determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places on April 1, 1986.
