This "Jack-Arch" technique was done by placing halves of steel corrugated culverts in between the stringers and pouring concrete over the top to form the deck. This is the only bridge that I've ever seen to have this feature.

Plaque of the Spiral Bridge
This bridge replaced the Hastings Spiral Bridge, which was unique for its spiral west approach. The main span was of a Parker design. Because of the increase in vehicular traffic and lack of funds to save the bridge, it was subsequentially demolished as soon as the new bridge was opened to traffic.

Update: 22 December, 2010
Already, work is progressing on the new bridge as the trees have been cleared for the arch structure and work has started on the east abutment. It is highly likely that some buildings on the west end will have to be demolished to make way for the west abutment and piers. More information will come in Summer 2011.
