View of the west truss web. The structural verticals are built up from a plate and two angles. The diagonals are two angles joined by battens. The vertical extending downward from the top chord diagonal joint are single angle for attaching the railing and appear to not be structural. Notice the double-thick lower chord along the three center panels.

Underside

The stringers are not continuous, but attach to the floor beam. There is a riveted corbel on the floor beam, and the stringers are bolted to the corbel. The bolts heads and nuts are square and appear to me to be original.

North abutment

As seen from underneath, the north end of the bridge stringers seem to be reinforced in front of the end floor beam with an old I-beam and welded on square tube. This whole arrangement would seem to negate the action of the rocker bearing.

Lower chord, center panels

A view looking down at the four angles and battens of the lower chord as used for the center panels. There are verticals attached to the top joints, but this view shows the connection to the lower chord. It appears to me these single angle verticals are for railing attachment only and are not part of the load bearing structure of the bridge.
