Status: Although already derelict, the bridge sustained additional damage from falling trees during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
No preservation projects have ever been attempted on this bridge. It is simply slowly deteriorating with continued exposure to the elements. It is currently (Jan 2015) safe for human pedestrian traffic. But certainly not for any vehicle traffic.
