Overview
The Franklin Railroad Overpass (MO 5) is a awesome bridge. The MKT Railroad is now turned into the Katy Trail, which is a state wide hiking trail. In other words, this huge overpass remains to remind visitors of the heritage of the historic MKT Railroad. The overpass itself is quite peculiar, complete with a "grand staircase" type structure built in to its main span. The staircase is a carryover from the railroad days when the overpass allowed people to go from the railroad below to the road above or vice versa.

Original US 40 leading up to bridge approach
This is an interesting photo: One can see the original US 40 leading up to what used to be a bridge that is no longer there. The current US 40 bridge, although old and historic, seemingly replaces an even older bridge.
