Detail of the unique builders plate. Unfortunately a fire at the Murray, Dougal & Co. in 1880 destroyed their bridge building plant, and they opted to not rebuild. Its a shame, it would have been nice to have a few more of these elegant bridges around

Lake Champlain and Moriah Railroad. Went up to an iron mine out of Port Henry. Multiple branches at the end, both to reach different parts of the mine, and because they ended up mining out from underneath the railroad and had to relocate. A curious bridge, going over a road and creek in one shot. Has trees growing on the top of it.

The Lake Champlain and Moriah Railroad came off the Delaware and Hudson on the south side of Port Henry, NY. Went to an iron mine up in the hills, with many spurs and sidings built and lifted as needed by the railroad. This bridge goes over Whitney Street.
