Welcome
to
Ohio University - Lancaster
The John Bridge No. 2 Covered Bridge
was built in 1881 by Augustus Borneman.
The suspension truss design is known
to have been used in only a few bridges
in Ohio. The laminated wooden arch
was added later.
The bridge spanned Poplar Creek
near Carroll, Ohio until it was
relocated to its present site in 1988.

Status: In storage or disassembled
The bridge is currently in storage. The plan is to rebuild it eventually. It will probably be in a different location, most likely over Fetters Run near Ohio Univ. Lancaster or the High School to join other historic bridges that have already been moved to span this creek.
