Looking North West

Through truss bridge over Kiamichi River on OK 109 five miles south of Fort Towson ,Choctaw County, Oklahoma. This bridge is relatively young as far as truss bridges go having been built in 1965 . Wes Kinsler of Oklahoma Bridges , http://okbridges.wkinsler.com/ , believes it to be one of the last , if not the last , truss spans built in Oklahoma. The main span is a riveted nine panel K-Parker through truss. The approaches consist of two riveted , five panel Parker pony trusses. All the preassembled or "shop sections" are riveted while all of the field connection are bolted. The bridge has been freshly painted , probably this past summer from the looks of it.
