Design Details: The Union Pacific Railroad’s John Day River Bridge is an 1100 foot rivet connected bridge over the mouth of the John Day River. The bridge consists of two 300 foot polygonal Warren through truss main spans and five plate girder approach spans. The bridge was constructed as part of the track relocation plan for the construction of the near by John Day Dam on the Columbia River.
