Carries OR 218 over John Day River
Design: arch/through/steel
Design Details: The John Day River Bridge is one of seven steel tied arch bridges in the State of Oregon. The main span is a 270-foot weathering steel tied arch, with four concrete slab approach spans summing 200 feet.
The climate at the bridge is so mild on steel that the weathering steel still has clean steel exposed after over 30 years of exposure to the elements.

Carries Viewpoint Road (Historical Columbia River Highway) over Fifteen Mile Creek
Design: beam/stringer
Design Details: The Seufert Viaduct was once part of the Columbia River Highway leading east from The Dalles. The bridge is a concrete stringer structure with arched fascia walls that give the bridge an arch appearance. The bridge also received many of the signature Conde McCullough architectural details such as inset bush-hammered panels and aesthetically pleasing rails. Though not technically designated as part of the Historical Columbia River Highway the bridge was built on the historic route just east of the present day designated area. The bridge is very similar to the Mill Creek Bridge also located in The Dalles.

Carries Oregon Trunk Line (BNSF Railroad) over Columbia River
Design: truss/through/pratt
Design Details: The Celilo Bridge was built near the site of Celilo Falls in 1912. The bridge was originally a fixed span structure, but a swing span was added during the construction of the Celilo Canal which provided marine passage of the falls. In late 1950’s a vertical lift span was added as a part of the construction of The Dalles Dam which flooded the canal and the falls in 1957. The swing span remains in place but has not been operational since the lift span was installed. The bridge consists of six fixed span through Parker trusses, one vertical lift span, one swing span and many plate girder approach spans.

Carries OR 216 over Deschutes River
Design: truss/deck/warren
Design Details: The 1922 Sherars Bridge was a single 60-foot span steel Warren deck truss. The bridge featured a timber deck with a timber post and rail style railing. The bridge was located over an extremely narrow gorge in the bottom of the Deschutes River Canyon just north of the traditional Native America fishing site at Sherars Falls.
The bridge was replaced with a pre-cast voided slab bridge in 1979. The replacement bridge features traditional Native American pictographs cast into the exterior face to the concrete slabs.

Carries OR 218 over John Day River
Design: truss/through/pennsylvania
Design Details: The 1908 Clarno Bridge was a pin-connected Pennsylvania-petit through truss bridge over the John Day River near the small town of Clarno, Oregon. Based off of historical photographs of the bridge, it can be determined that the bridge featured a timber plank deck with timber railing. The main truss span of the bridge was approached by timber stringer approach spans, which were typical of this era of structure. No records or plans for the bridge are available at this time so the measurements of the spans can not be determined. The bridge was replaced in 1975 by the current steel tied arch structure.
