S & S Trolley car in Monroe Township with Penns Creek and SG directly behind them, to the south. The trolley bridge crossed Penns Creek and the Meadows into SG. On the left are the remains of the covered bridge that had spanned Penns Creek at Monroe Mills. The bridge was torn from its abutments on Feb 20, 1918, and carried more than a mile down stream by a large ice flood, caused by recent heavy rains. Some of the ice cakes were 20 inches thick. This photo was likely taken just a day or so following the ice flood. The old Camelback Bridge was erected to replace the wooden structure.
