This was the original RR bridge built in 1884. It was replaced with a steel bridge sometime before the 1906 flood. The bridge itself was not destroyed in this flood but the approach (wooden trestle) to the south was washed out.

4th Street Bridge
Photo taken in 1909 from the Cascade mill. During the spring flood logs are transported down the river and retrieved at this point by the Cascade Mill. Please note the round cement pier in the middle of the river. This pier still presently remains in the river.

Photo taken from Resthaven Road. Note the pier used by the Cascade Lumber Mill to fetch logs floated down from upstream in the early 1900s. The dead giveaway that this was a bridge approach was the exotic cement posts road barricade.

Selah Wagon Bidge
Lower bridge into North Yakima (prior to 1906). This photo shows the horizon. The union gap, where the Yakima river flows south between a ridge of hills, is seen in the south. To the left there is a railroad, and in the 1900s the only railroad would be the Northern Pacific placing the location of this bridge west of the NP railroad bridge on the Natches River/
