Carries US 52 over Guyandotte River
Design: truss/through/parker
Design Details: Riveted steel Parker through truss with two pony truss approach spans.
"The Gilbert Bridge, which was constructed during the 'Good Roads Movement' of the 1920s, allowed for the economic and geographic expansion of Gilbert, West Virginia by providing safe and convenient access to both banks of the Guyandotte River. In addition, the bridge served as a vital link in the State Road system which connected Mingo County to other counties in West Virginia.
"This documentation was undertaken in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement by the West Virginia Department of Transportation as a mitigative measure prior to the replacement of the bridge."

Old Glory
With the sun reflecting off the shiny steel ribbons, almost appears these tracks are in daily use. However, this branch line hasn't been used in years. Once served the Majestic Colleries, a Cadillac operation in its day, and the tipple was once featured on the cover of LIFE Magazine. The old company store still survives, but the massive load-out was razed about five years ago. No traffic on this line, as a small section of track off the mainline has been permanently removed.

Nothern Approach
All but forgotten, the Cedar Branch Line Bridge still stands, albeit not in use for years. This served the infamous Majestic Colleries Company, which operated from 1914-1958, and the tipple there once had the distinction of being featured on the cover of Life magazine. The company store still stands in Majestic, this line is directly off the Pocahontas Main line.
