The south face

As seen from Ohio Highway 7. There isn't really anything outstanding about this bridge to make it historical, other than being a virtual twin to the Fort Henry Bridge.

Co-Operative Transit Company, car #50 is crossing the Ohio River on the Aetnaville Bridge from Ohio into West Virginia on route 71 of the Wheeling-North Island-Martins Ferry-Stop10 line. On the right is the toll booth for automobile traffic with a sign showing $.15 per car. The Wheeling system began operation in 1865 with horse cars. Electric cars began to be used in 1887. Mergers produced the Wheeling Traction Company, with operations on both sides of the Ohio River. In 1933, employees bought the company and renamed it Co-operative Transit Company. It operated until 1947.
