Carries STH 42-57 (Business Route) over Sturgeon Bay
Design: girder/deck/concrete
Design Details: This bridge was discussed for decades, but lack of funding and disagreements over the design delayed construction. With the Michigan Street Bridge becoming increasingly decrepit, construction was finally begun in 2006. Once the Oregon Street Bridge was opened, the Michigan Street Bridge was immediately closed for needed rehabilitation.

Repaired span, looking southwest

The lattice sidewalk railing has been replaced with a replica. Sadly, it is bolted together, versus riveted. No current fabricator is capable of riveted work; in my own opinion, it would have looked better welded.

The replaced items are attached to the original structure using ASTM-A325 structural bolts. As noted above, no fabricator today is equipped to do hot riveting.

Maybe remote-controlled bridges aren't such a good idea after all... The Michigan Street Bridge is controlled remotely from the Oregon Street Bridge. The picture says it all.
