When the replacement bridge was built, this bridge was moved downstream about 30 feet and set on new footings. As seen in the photos, an outstanding job of cleaning and painting was done to preserve this bridge.

The new wooden deck is on new steel stringers, which also serve as the approach spans. The pipe footings the bridge rests on are new as well.

Pinned end connection
I gave no idea why such large pipe pilings were used for the footings. These are capable of supporting a huge span.

New piliings
These are about 18 inch pipe, which are huge for what they are supporting. They are modern welded steel, but they have put in stove bolts to make them appear to be riveted.

Closeup of the structure.
The new lattice railing is welded; in my opinion this looks much better than using stove bolts to make it look like it is riveted. Refer to the Michigan St. Bridge in Sturgeon Bay WI for an example of bolted lattice.
