Barrel Shot Looking East
This is the entrance to a subdivision that is between the railroad berm and the Rock River. The area was severely flooded in June, 2008. The bridge is significant as the last known example in the state of the C&NW's standard stone-arch design. Compare it to the oldest extant example of the C&NW standard design, the 1878 Goette Road Bridge in Sauk County.

The daily traffic count of "1" seems awfully pessimistic, as I counted at least 18 vehicles crossing in the 45 minutes that I was in the area. It is also a very popular recreational location, because even though there is no official boat landing, the shore has a slope gentle enough for boats to be launched here.

Well, sort of. I can't reach that high. This was taken from a railroad crossing - these tracks are too busy to risk walking to the bridge with no where to escape a passing train or law enforcement. The span a little further down the tracks is the Highway J Bridge.

Pretty rare to see dual tracks on a bridge like this. The heavy skew combined with what appears to be a cheap and low quality construction (for a double tracked mainline) lead to some intriguing details. These are the north piers

I highly doubt the approaches and piers are 1890s, but I could be wrong. I suspect the bridge was raised in 1912 when the Rock River Bridge next door was built.
