West Elevation
This is an interesting pair of railroad bridges in Plymouth, Wisconsin. They are just south of the Mill Street pair of bridges (one was C&NW and one was Milwaukee Road) that were built on the same abutment. This pair of bridges was also built by the competing railroads, and also built on the same abutments. The abutments for these bridges demonstrates the difference in building philosophies between the two railroads.

Typical of C&NW bridge construction, you can see the quarry marks in the stones. There are several C&NW bridges documented on this site in Columbia County, Dane County, Washington County and Sauk County including the Goette Road Bridge, which at 1878, is the oldest known C&NW and stone arch bridge in the state.
